Job Title: AML Operations Officer #1022379

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Duration: 10 months contract (with possibility of extension/conversion)

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of AML/KYC experience focused on client onboarding, rather than transaction monitoring, with strong knowledge of capital markets, regulatory compliance, team leadership, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead departmental projects: Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and risk mitigation initiatives for CDD operations.

· Oversee the team's workload: Ensure requests are managed in a timely manner and escalate issues as needed to maintain compliance and efficiency.

· Manage onboarding work queues: Ensure adherence to strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) while maintaining quality standards.

· Support client onboarding: Continue to work on client onboarding, periodic reviews, and ad-hoc requests, ensuring compliance with KYC, FATCA, CIRO, and AML requirements.

· Mentor and train team members: Provide guidance to new and junior team members on AML requirements and promote adherence to regulatory standards.

· Handle complex cases: Perform secondary reviews of AML analysis, ensuring thoroughness, accuracy, and proper risk assessment.

· Manage escalations: Address complex or high-priority cases by working with business partners and ensuring the team adheres to SLAs.

· Lead audit and regulatory exam preparation: Coordinate audit-related activities by collecting, analyzing, and presenting required data.

· Support strategic initiatives: Participate in the rollout and development of new processes, systems, and operational enhancements across the department.

· Identify areas of concern: Work closely with the manager to identify and address KYC-related concerns and other departmental challenges.

· Drive adherence to AML standards: Ensure all team members understand and comply with AML regulations, including KYC, FATCA, CIRO, and CRS.

· Support regulatory initiatives: Participate in the rollout and adoption of new operational and regulatory initiatives within the team.

· Manage competing priorities: Handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of performance.

Must-Have Skills and Qualifications

1. AML/KYC Client Onboarding Experience: 5 years of AML/KYC experience, specifically in client onboarding. Transaction monitoring experience alone does not meet this requirement.

2. Advanced AML Regulatory Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of AML regulations, including PCMLTFA, FATCA, CIRO, and broader AML trends.

3. Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and mentor a team, guide junior members, and manage escalations effectively.

4. Project Management Experience: Ability to manage or contribute to projects focused on process improvement, system enhancements, or regulatory compliance.

5. Problem-Solving and Strategic Thinking: Ability to handle complex tasks and competing priorities while ensuring consistent delivery.

6. Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence team members and business partners.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

· Data Analysis Tools: Proficiency with Excel (strongly preferred, with intermediate skills expected), Bloomberg, Impact, UI Path,

Alteryx, and VBA.

· CAMS Designation: Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation is an asset.

· Capital Markets Experience: Strong preference for candidates with capital markets experience, particularly in KYC and client onboarding.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced AML/KYC professional with 5 years of client onboarding experience, preferably within capital markets or investment banking. They should demonstrate strong regulatory knowledge, leadership capabilities, experience handling complex CDD cases, and the ability to manage escalations, mentor team members, and drive operational improvements while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and SLAs.
