Sales & Business Development Representative – Luxury Lighting
Cantu is looking for a proven B2B sales professional who knows how to create opportunities and win business through consistent outbound activity, strong sales skills, product expertise, and effective client engagement.
You'll work with Vancouver's interior designers, architects, luxury home builders and other design-industry professionals, introducing premium lighting solutions, identifying project opportunities and converting those opportunities into secured business.
This is not a traditional retail showroom position built around walk-in traffic. Success requires initiative, motivation, disciplined prospecting, the ability to secure and conduct effective meetings, and the sales skills necessary to advance opportunities and close business.
You'll be assigned a portfolio of approximately 100 existing accounts and prospects, with 30–50 prioritized for active development. These accounts represent market potential, not a ready-made book of business. Your responsibility is to generate the activity, conversations, meetings, specifications and sales opportunities that turn this potential into measurable revenue.
Cantu provides access to premium brands, identified accounts, experienced technical specialists and a substantial investment in training. You bring the proven sales skills, motivation and discipline required to generate business.
What You'll DoSales & Business Development
- Proactively engage an assigned portfolio of interior designers, architects, luxury builders, electrical contractors and other design-industry professionals.
- Execute consistent outbound activity through phone calls, emails, targeted prospecting and direct client engagement.
- Secure and conduct effective client meetings, showroom consultations, presentations and lunch-and-learns.
- Qualify opportunities by understanding project requirements, stakeholders, timelines, budgets and purchasing decisions.
- Identify active and upcoming projects where Cantu can provide meaningful value.
- Apply consultative and strategic selling techniques to educate clients, challenge assumptions and influence purchasing decisions.
- Develop and maintain a qualified sales pipeline through disciplined prospecting, opportunity management and follow-up.
- Advance opportunities through the sales process, overcome objections, secure commitments and close business.
- Convert assigned account potential into active projects, consistent sales volume and repeat revenue.
- Identify additional prospects and pursue new accounts where appropriate.
Technical Lighting Sales
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of Cantu's premium decorative, architectural, interior and exterior lighting products.
- Advise clients on lighting applications, product selection, technical specifications and project requirements.
- Review architectural and electrical plans, prepare takeoffs, fixture schedules, specifications and accurate quotations.
- Develop an understanding of lighting performance, controls, dimming, drivers, compatibility and installation considerations.
- Present appropriate product alternatives and value-engineered solutions that balance design objectives, technical feasibility and budget.
- Use technical knowledge and product expertise to strengthen sales presentations, influence specifications and win business.
- Collaborate with Cantu's experienced lighting specialists for technical validation, controls, submittals and troubleshooting.
Full Sales & Project Ownership
- Take ownership of opportunities from initial qualification and specification through quotation, close, order entry, delivery and aftercare.
- Maintain accurate quotations, specifications, order details and client communication.
- Coordinate with vendors, purchasing, warehouse, technical teams, electrical contractors and installers to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage project changes, substitutions, lead times, delivery requirements and issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate account information, sales activity, opportunity status and pipeline visibility.
- Remain accountable for the client, opportunity and project outcome, even when additional technical support is involved.
You'll have access to two experienced lighting specialists who provide additional expertise on complex technical requirements. This support allows you to focus on developing business while building your own technical competency, without transferring ownership of the sale or project.
Our Investment in Your Development
We recognize that luxury lighting is a technically sophisticated industry. Developing the product knowledge,
technical understanding and operational capability required to succeed takes time and meaningful investment.
Cantu provides a structured training and onboarding program designed to develop an experienced B2B salesperson into a highly capable luxury lighting sales professional.
This includes extensive exposure to our products, manufacturers, lighting applications, technical specifications, controls, project workflows and internal systems, along with practical guidance from experienced team members.
Your Development Path
Months 0–3 | Foundational Training
Focus on product knowledge, lighting principles, technical specifications, applications, controls, installation considerations, systems and internal processes. Develop an understanding of Cantu's brands, quoting procedures, order workflows and technical requirements.
Months 3–6 | Applied Technical Training
Continue developing product knowledge and technical competency through guided learning, practical exercises, observation and exposure to client consultations, quotations, specifications and project coordination.
Months 6–12 | Sales Ownership & Supported Business Development
Begin managing selected sales opportunities while taking increasing ownership of the sales cycle. Apply your technical knowledge through client consultations, specifications, quotations and project execution. Introduce supported outbound activity with assigned accounts, including securing meetings, identifying projects and generating qualified sales opportunities.
12 Months & Beyond | Independent Sales & Business Development
Independently develop your assigned account portfolio through consistent outbound activity, effective client meetings, strategic selling and disciplined opportunity management. Manage increasingly complex projects while building sustainable sales volume and repeat business.
Progression is based on demonstrated technical competency, accuracy, sales readiness and performance. Individual timelines may vary.
