Central Alberta | Commercial Snow Removal & Field Operations
Wage: $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience and ability

We're Looking for Someone Who Can Get Things Done.

We're looking for a hands-on, mechanically minded, and self-motivated individual to join our field operations team.

This isn't your typical equipment operator position. We're looking for someone who can operate equipment confidently, think on their feet, take ownership of their work, and jump in wherever they're needed.

Our work includes commercial snow removal, sanding, site inspections, sidewalk maintenance, equipment upkeep, and general field operations. No two days are necessarily the same, and that's exactly why this role is suited to someone who enjoys variety, solving problems, and getting things done.

We're willing to pay for the right person. If you're experienced, dependable, mechanically inclined, and capable of working independently, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

Equipment Operation

- Safely and confidently operate skid steers, wheel loaders, and other equipment for commercial snow removal and site maintenance.
- Perform snow clearing and sanding operations at commercial properties.
- Operate sanding equipment and monitor material application as required.

Site Inspections & Quality Control

- Conduct site checks to ensure properties have been properly serviced.
- Identify areas requiring additional snow clearing, sanding, or ice control.
- Monitor site conditions and identify potential safety concerns.
- Ensure work meets customer expectations and company standards.

Equipment Maintenance & Repairs

- Perform routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing basic repairs.
- Identify equipment problems before they become larger issues.
- Help keep trucks, loaders, skid steers, sanders, and other equipment in good working condition.

Sidewalk Maintenance & General Field Support

- Assist with sidewalk snow removal and ice control when required.
- Support other field operations and help keep crews and equipment running smoothly.
- Pitch in wherever needed to ensure jobs are completed properly and customers receive dependable service.

Problem-Solving & Independent Work

- Recognize problems and take initiative to find solutions.
- Work independently without needing constant direction or supervision.
- Communicate effectively with management and other team members.
- Take responsibility for your work, equipment, and decisions.

The Kind of Person We're Looking For

Experience matters, but how you approach your work matters just as much.

We're looking for someone who:

- Can work independently without needing constant direction.
- Takes initiative and sees what needs doing rather than waiting to be told.
- Is mechanically inclined and enjoys figuring out how things work.
- Isn't afraid to get their hands dirty, tackle an unfamiliar task, or learn something new.
- Can think on their feet and make sensible decisions when plans change.
- Takes responsibility for mistakes, learns from them, and moves forward.
- Is reliable, level-headed, and able to communicate clearly with the team.
- Understands that working for a small company means helping out beyond your primary job description.
- Takes pride in doing a job properly and treating equipment and customer properties with respect.
- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.

You don't need to know how to do everything on day one. We value people who are willing to learn, ask sensible questions, try to find solutions, and take ownership of getting the job done.

We'd rather hire someone with a great attitude and a willingness to figure things out than someone with years of experience who needs to be told every step.

Experience & Qualifications

The following experience and skills are strong assets:

- Skid steer and wheel loader operating experience.
- Commercial snow removal experience.
- Sanding and ice-control experience.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and equipment troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with equipment inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Experience performing site inspections or quality-control checks.
- A valid driver's licence and a driving record that meets our insurance requirements.

Additional equipment experience and mechanical skills are an advantage.

We are willing to train the right candidate in areas where they have less experience, provided they demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn.

Hours, Scheduling & On-Call Requirements

Flexibility is essential for this position.

Commercial snow removal is not a typical 9-to-5 job. Our schedules depend on weather conditions, snowfall, and the needs of our customers. We're looking for someone who understands the realities of this industry and is comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

Variable Hours & Shifts

- Variable shift lengths: Scheduled shifts will generally have a minimum duration of 3 hours, although individual tasks, such as sanding a site, may take less time to complete.
- Longer shifts during snow events: Significant snowfalls and demanding weather conditions may require shifts of 12 hours or longer.
- Flexible start times: Depending on weather and site requirements, shifts may begin during the day, overnight, or in the early morning.
- Day, night, and split shifts: Schedules may include daytime shifts, overnight shifts, or split shifts depending on site conditions and operational requirements.
- Fluctuating workload: Hours will vary depending on weather conditions and operational demands. Some periods will be significantly busier than others.

Applicants must be comfortable with non-standard working hours, changing schedules, and the possibility of extended shifts during winter weather events.

On-Call Responsibilities

This position participates in a rotating on-call schedule with other team members.

When scheduled for on-call duty, you must:

- Carry a working cell phone and two-way radio.
- Monitor communications and respond to incoming calls and operational requests.
- Be prepared to report for work when required, in accordance with the established on-call arrangements.
- Communicate promptly with management regarding your availability and any issues that could prevent you from responding.

On-call availability is particularly important during winter weather events, when conditions and customer requirements can change quickly.

Overtime & Time Banking

The position operates under an overtime agreement that employees will be required to review and agree to as part of their employment arrangements.

The agreement provides for eligible overtime hours to be banked and used as paid time off during slower periods, subject to the applicable agreement and Alberta employment standards.

What We Offer

Competitive Pay: $25–$30 per Hour

We recognize that a dependable, experienced person who can operate equipment, troubleshoot problems, and work independently brings significant value to our business.

Compensation will depend on your experience, practical abilities, mechanical aptitude, and the level of responsibility you can take on.

Other benefits of the position include:

- Variety: A hands-on role that goes beyond sitting in a machine all day.
- Responsibility and independence: We want you to take ownership of your work and trust you to get things done.
- A small, hands-on team: You'll work directly with ownership, where communication is straightforward and your contributions matter.
- Room to grow: The right person can take on additional responsibilities as they demonstrate their skills and initiative.
- Skill development: Opportunities to expand your equipment operating, mechanical, and field operations experience.
- An opportunity to make a difference: Help improve our field operations, maintain our equipment, and deliver dependable service to our customers.

Our Work Environment

We're a hands-on, rapid-moving operation. We value straightforward communication, practical thinking, teamwork, and accountability.

Plans can change quickly, especially during winter operations. We need someone who can adapt, communicate, and keep moving forward without becoming overwhelmed every time something doesn't go according to plan.

We don't expect perfection, and we don't expect you to know everything. We do expect honesty, initiative, and a willingness to learn from mistakes.

If something goes wrong, we want someone who brings us the problem and, whenever possible, a potential solution.

We're looking for someone who makes our team stronger, not someone who needs to be managed every step of the way.

Think This Sounds Like You? secret code: hireme

If you're the kind of person who sees a problem and thinks, "Let's see what I can do about that," rather than immediately giving up, we'd like to meet you.

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys a challenge, and wants to be a valuable part of a team.

You don't need to be an expert in everything. You need to be willing to learn, take responsibility, and put in the effort to get the job done right.

- Your equipment operating experience.
- Your experience with commercial snow removal and sanding.
