About the Position

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and safety-conscious Lifeguards / Swim Instructors to join our Aquatics Team!

Whether you're supervising swimmers or teaching lessons, you'll play an important role in creating a safe, fun, and welcoming aquatic environment for our members and guests.

Working under the direction of our Aquatics Leadership Team, you'll help promote water safety, build swimming confidence, and provide positive aquatic experiences for participants of all ages.

Key Responsibilities

Lifeguarding

- Actively supervise pool activities and ensure the safety of all swimmers.




- Recognize, prevent, and respond effectively to aquatic emergencies.
- Enforce pool rules and promote safe swimming practices.
- Provide friendly, professional assistance to members and guests.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming aquatic environment.
- Follow established safety procedures and Lifesaving Society standards.

Swim Instruction

- Deliver engaging, high-quality swimming lessons following Lifesaving Society standards.
- Create a positive, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment.
- Teach swimming and water safety skills to participants of various ages and abilities.
- Monitor participant progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records and protect participant confidentiality.
- Work collaboratively with lifeguards and the Aquatics Leadership Team to ensure participant safety.

Qualifications

Required:

- Current National Lifeguard (NL) certification.
- Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification.
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C, and AED certification.
- Satisfactory Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, as a condition of employment.
- WHMIS training (or willingness to complete upon hiring).
- Strong communication,



teamwork, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred:

- Previous lifeguarding or swim instruction experience.
- Experience working with children and individuals of varying swimming abilities.
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for working in a community-focused environment.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

- Work in an active, warm, humid, and occasionally noisy aquatic environment.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of lifeguarding and swim instruction.
- May be required to lift or move equipment weighing 25 lbs. or more.
- May be required to stand or actively supervise swimmers for extended periods.
- Exposure to routine pool cleaning products and chemicals in accordance with safety procedures.
- Shifts may include daytime, evenings, and weekends.
