About Lokanta Mediterranean Café Lokanta Mediterranean Café is a small, family-run café in Historic Port Dalhousie. It was founded by a Turkish chef and his wife, who believe food is a powerful way to bring people together and create a sense of belonging. We cook using traditional Mediterranean recipes, simple ingredients, and time-honoured techniques. Our café is warm, welcoming, and rooted in the community. We value creativity, compassion, and teamwork. About the Job We're looking for a reliable back of house team member who can keep the dish pit running and jump on prep when it's needed. This is not a "just dishes" job. If you want to learn the kitchen and grow into a cook role, this is where that starts.
- Keep dishes, pots, pans, and utensils clean and moving during service so the line never runs short
- Prep ingredients to recipe and portion standards: chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, making sauces and dips, portioning
- Label, date, and rotate product (FIFO)
- Keep the dish area, walk-in, and kitchen floors clean and organized
- Prep garbage, recycling, and compost for pick-up
- Help receive and put away deliveries
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times
- Support the line and the team wherever needed during rushes What we're looking for
- Previous dishwasher or kitchen experience is an asset, not a requirement. We will train the right person.

- Shows up on time, every shift
- Works fast without cutting corners
- Can stand for long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs
- Available evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Food Handler Certification is an asset (or willingness to get it) What you get

- Part-time, 10-20 hours per week
