Shanghai Construction Group Canada Corp. (SCGCC) is a Canadian subsidiary of Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd., operating in Edmonton since 2007. We specialize in general contracting, construction management, underground infrastructure, tunneling, and trenchless construction. Our projects include stormwater and sanitary sewer systems, microtunneling, shaft construction, pipeline installation and rehabilitation, and municipal infrastructure improvements.

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Site Superintendent to lead daily field operations for our construction project in the Edmonton area. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating field activities, supervising crews, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

- Lead and coordinate daily site activities to ensure construction work progresses according to approved plans, drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Organize construction sequencing and coordinate field operations to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Monitor work progress, identify site challenges, and implement practical solutions in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Coordinate equipment mobilization, material deliveries, site access, and subcontractor activities.
- Maintain effective communication between field crews and the project management team.
- Directly supervise foremen and construction crews, providing clear work instructions and daily priorities.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to meet project requirements.
- Monitor crew productivity, equipment utilization, and work quality, addressing issues promptly.
- Adjust daily work assignments as project conditions and priorities change.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure site activities comply with applicable Alberta Occupational Health and Safety requirements,



company procedures, and project-specific safety plans.
- Coordinate with the Site Safety Advisor to identify hazards, address unsafe conditions, and support the implementation of safety requirements.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, site inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations as required.
- Address deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with the project team.
- Track daily construction progress and report manpower, equipment utilization, completed work, delays, and site issues to the Project Manager.
- Identify potential schedule impacts and resource constraints and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate daily site records and communicate changes in site conditions promptly.
- Provide practical input on construction methods, sequencing, and opportunities to improve field efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Minimum 5 years of relevant construction experience, including site supervision or field leadership.
- Experience must include competently delivering on Superintendents tasks within the phases of the construction process from the project, startup to project closeout.
- Experience related to tunneling or underground projects are considered assets.
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, manpower planning, equipment coordination, and field problem-solving.
- Understanding of construction safety practices and applicable Alberta OHS requirements.
- Solid leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel between project sites as required.
