Budget Car & Truck Rental, operated by Devon Transport Ltd., is looking for a career-minded Damage Claims Manager to lead our vehicle damage claims department.

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will manage a team of Damage Claim Administrators and oversee claims from initial reporting through to recovery and file closure. You will also process active claims alongside your team, balancing day-to-day file work with leadership responsibilities.

You will be the primary contact for ICBC adjusters and work closely with rental locations, repair facilities, insurers, and customers to resolve claims, control repair costs, and reduce vehicle downtime.

Responsibilities

- Lead, coach, and support Damage Claim Administrators, including assigning workloads, reviewing files, and monitoring performance.
- Personally manage an active claims workload and assist with complex, disputed, or high-value files.
- Ensure claims are supported by complete and accurate rental records, photographs, reports, repair estimates, and invoices.
- Manage communication with ICBC adjusters regarding damage claims, repair approvals, payments, and outstanding requirements.
- Prepare and pursue eligible ICBC loss-of-use recoveries when vehicles are unavailable due to covered damage repairs.




- Review and negotiate repair estimates and invoices, and work with repair facilities to minimize delays.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and explain damage charges and supporting documentation clearly.
- Monitor outstanding balances, coordinate payment reconciliation with accounting, and report on recovery results, claim aging, and vehicle downtime.
- Improve department procedures and train claims staff and rental locations on damage reporting and documentation standards.

What you bring

- Previous experience in vehicle rental, automotive or insurance claims, fleet management, collision repair, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Previous supervisory or management experience, with the ability to coach employees and coordinate an administrative team.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of files and competing priorities.
- Professional written and verbal communication, strong negotiation skills, and confidence handling difficult conversations.
- Sound judgment, financial awareness, and a practical approach to investigating and resolving problems.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn rental, claims, and reporting systems.
- Experience working with ICBC adjusters, reviewing repair estimates, or pursuing loss-of-use recovery is an asset.

Pay: $70,000.00-$74,000.00 per year
