Create and run educational programs that fuel children's intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth. Program Supervisors maintain the integrity of the program, the JCC and staff members by being strong, effective and organized leaders.

In this agile role, you will lead engaging classroom activities, supervise staff and volunteers, and foster a safe, inclusive environment for children to thrive.

Duties

- Using the British Columbia Early Learning Framework and Sheva- The Jewish Early Learning Framework for the JCCA of North America as guides, educators care and educate the children in their group.
- Abide by the ECEBC Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice
- Adhere to Provincial Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Work as part of the team while offering leadership, guidance and supervision for Educators in a licensed group setting
- Provide for the safety and well-being of children
- Co-construct responsive program planning, implementation and evaluation
- Develop professional relationships with parents
- Provide opportunities for parent engagement
- Attend supervisor meetings as scheduled
- Attend weekly or bi-weekly, as scheduled, check-in meetings with ECE director
- Individual children’s files maintenance
- Manage team schedule
- Maintains appropriate records and information on each child, particularly in regards to their health, safety or well-being, including attendance,



absence and other parent messages
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians and/ or ECE director
- Monthly newsletter or weekly “Ma Nishma” communication with families
- Photo organization
- Calendar preparation
- Monthly fire drill execution and log, annual shake out execution and log, annual hold and secure drill
- Check emails and respond in a timely manner
- Plan, set agenda and contribute to monthly staff meetings
- Assist in the regular and on-going planning and implementation of appropriate programming
- Assist in identifying and listing required equipment, supplies and food

Experience

- ECE certificate, Infant/Toddler or Special Needs certificate as required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with children in a licensed group setting
- Experience as a supervisor in a licensed early childhood setting (preferred)
- Fluent in the English language (spoken & written)
- Valid Criminal Record Check
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR
- Three References
- Experience in creating learning through play environments with emergent curriculum
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to adapt to changing situations
- Strong computer skills
- Strong time management skills
- Working knowledge of Provincial Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Bountiful energy and enthusiasm
