We are seeking a skilled Excavator Operator to support construction and sitework projects. The operator will safely and efficiently move earth and materials, prepare work areas, and help crews complete projects to specifications. This role may involve operating other heavy equipment as project needs require.
Responsibilities
- Operate an excavator to dig, grade, trench, load, and move materials.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Work with crew members to follow plans, grade stakes, and site instructions.
- Maintain awareness of underground utilities, nearby workers, and changing site conditions.
- Assist with equipment setup, cleanup, and routine care.
- When qualified and assigned, operate a dozer, loader, backhoe, or grader.
- Support horizontal drilling and paving activities as needed.
- Follow site safety procedures and keep work areas orderly.
Qualifications
- Previous construction experience and heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
- Demonstrated excavator operating skills; experience with Caterpillar equipment is an asset.
- Familiarity with loader operation, backhoe operation, dozer operation, or grader operation is a plus.
- Experience supporting horizontal drilling or paving projects is beneficial.
- Mechanical knowledge and the ability to identify basic equipment issues.
- Commercial driving experience is an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions, and work cooperatively with a construction crew.
- Commitment to protected work practices and careful operation around people, equipment, and utilities.
Pay: From $50.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
