Financial Analyst - Budgets (Temporary Approx. Working within our Strategic Plan, Cambridge Connected, and committing to our values of Integrity, Respect, Inclusiveness and Service, the successful candidate will work together to help the City of Cambridge achieve our vision: Reporting to the Supervisor of Financial Planning but taking direction from the entire Financial Planning team, the Financial Analyst – Budgets provides analytical support to the Financial Planning team with the timely development of multi-year operating budget, business plans and forecasts. Prepares financial analysis and reconciliations.

Assists in the writing and compilation of the City’s budget and reports. Provides analytical support to the Financial Planning function by assisting Senior Financial Analysts, Supervisor and management with the timely development of multi-year operating budget, business plans and forecasts. Prepares financial analysis, variance and trend analysis, economic analysis, account reconciliations and ad-hoc research to support budget preparation and forecasting.

Identifies opportunities and risks in financial forecasts. Assists in the writing and compilation of the City’s budget document and reports. Prepares salary variance analysis to support forecasting. Maintains the financial plan (budget/forecast) in the financial system through periodic imports from the budget software.

Coordinate with divisions to review, update and maintain municipal user fee schedules. Maintains account structure and hierarchies in financial reporting systems. Ensures compliance with policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Assists in the ongoing implementation, training, and support of financial applications.



Recommends software solutions to enhance reporting capabilities for the budget and forecasting processes and reporting. Other budget and accounting duties as assigned.

University

Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or suitable equivalent. Working towards accounting designation (CPA) preferred. Two (2) years Accounting at an intermediate level and experience using financial and computer applications. Two (2) years Advanced experience using Excel.

Experience with SAP and FMW systems is considered an asset. We will ask you for these items if you are hired Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour This position is located in Band Level 3 of the Non-Union Salary Scale and has an hourly range of $42.00 - $51.24.
