Ottawa Venues is looking for an experienced General Contractor / Maintenance Technician to join our internal maintenance team.

This is a hands-on role supporting a portfolio of restaurants and hospitality venues across Ottawa. We are looking for someone practical, reliable and comfortable handling a wide range of maintenance, repair and small construction projects.

The ideal candidate has previous experience in general contracting, building maintenance, renovations or a related field and is able to work independently while managing priorities across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include

- General repairs and preventative maintenance
- Drywall repair, patching and painting
- Basic carpentry and millwork repairs
- Door, lock and hardware repairs
- Minor plumbing repairs and troubleshooting
- Basic electrical troubleshooting within the limits of applicable licensing requirements
- Furniture, fixture and equipment repairs
- Tile, flooring and finish repairs
- Small renovation and improvement projects
- Coordinating with licensed trades when required
- Responding to urgent maintenance issues across multiple locations
- Identifying potential building or equipment issues before they become larger problems
- Maintaining tools, materials and basic maintenance inventory
- Communicating clearly with restaurant managers and the maintenance team regarding repairs and project status

Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in general contracting, construction, renovations, facilities maintenance or a similar hands-on role




- Has a broad working knowledge of common building repairs and maintenance
- Is comfortable troubleshooting problems and finding practical solutions
- Can work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Takes pride in quality workmanship
- Is dependable, organized and responsive
- Communicates professionally with restaurant managers, staff and outside contractors
- Has their own basic hand tools
- Has a valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Is comfortable travelling between locations throughout Ottawa
- Is able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, early mornings or weekends when required

Experience working in restaurants, commercial buildings or hospitality environments is considered an asset. Trade certifications are also an asset but are not required for candidates with solid general construction and maintenance experience.
