About Canada Homes For Rent

Canada Homes For Rent is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and motivated Grounds Crew Member to join our growing operations team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work, takes pride in maintaining properties, and can work effectively as part of a small crew.

The successful candidate will assist with lawn care, grounds maintenance, property cleanouts, snow removal, and ice control throughout the year. We are looking for someone who is dependable, safety-conscious, physically capable, and willing to take on a variety of tasks as operational needs change with the seasons.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds Maintenance and Landscaping

- Perform lawn mowing, trimming, edging, and general yard maintenance.
- Assist with spring and fall cleanups, leaf removal, debris collection, and other landscaping tasks.
- Maintain clean, safe, and presentable grounds at residential and light commercial properties.
- Operate lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment.
- Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials.
- Follow daily work schedules and complete assigned properties efficiently.

Property Cleanouts and Maintenance

- Assist with unit cleanouts, including removing unwanted furniture, garbage, and other materials.
- Perform heavy lifting, carrying, loading, and disposal of debris.
- Help prepare rental units and properties for new tenants or upcoming work.
- Assist with general property maintenance and other labour tasks as required.
- Keep work areas, vehicles, trailers, and equipment clean and organized.

Snow Removal and Ice Control

- Participate in snow removal operations at residential and light commercial properties.
- Assist with clearing snow from driveways, walkways,



entrances, parking areas, and other designated areas.
- Perform sanding, salting, and other ice control measures as required.
- Help load, transport, and organize snow removal equipment and supplies.
- Respond to winter weather events, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
- Follow secure work practices when working in cold temperatures and slippery conditions.

Equipment and General Labour

- Assist with loading, unloading, securing, and transporting equipment.
- Help connect, disconnect, and manoeuvre trailers as directed and when qualified.
- Perform routine equipment checks and report damage, maintenance needs, or safety concerns.
- Follow instructions from the Grounds Crew Team Lead and management.
- Work cooperatively with other crew members to complete daily assignments.
- Maintain a professional attitude when working at properties and interacting with residents, tenants, and clients.

Required Qualifications

- Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
- Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, property maintenance, construction, snow removal, or general labour is an asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting, bending, carrying, and repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small crew and follow directions.
- Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and willing to learn.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to workplace safety.




- Ability to manage assigned tasks and work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience operating lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, or other landscaping equipment.
- Experience with snow removal, sanding, and salting operations.
- Experience towing trailers, transporting equipment, or working with dump trailers.
- Basic knowledge of property maintenance and landscaping practices.
- Experience working at multiple properties throughout the day.

Work Environment and Schedule

- Outdoor work throughout the year in changing weather conditions.
- Physically demanding work involving lifting, carrying, bending, and equipment handling.
- Seasonal workload, with grounds maintenance during warmer months and snow removal and ice control during winter.
- Availability for occasional extended hours, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays during winter weather events.
- Travel between properties throughout the Saint John area and surrounding communities as required.
