Reporting to the General Manager, the Hospitality Manager runs the Tasting Bar, the Garden Bistro dining room, the retail wine shop, and event service. This is a floor-first leadership role: you set the standard on every shift, lead a year-round and seasonal team, and turn the property's goals into a smooth, profitable service.
COMPENSATION AND PERKS
- Base salary of $80,000 to $100,000, based on experience.
- Extended health and dental benefits.
- Employee discounts across our restaurants and properties.
- Professional development support, including wine education (for example WSET).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESOperations and Guest Experience
- Lead day-to-day front of house operations across the Tasting Bar, Garden Bistro dining room, retail wine shop, and event spaces.
- Be visible on the floor during service, setting the tone for hospitality and stepping in wherever the team needs support.
- Uphold service standards that consistently exceed guest expectations and reflect the Peak Cellars brand.
- Build schedules and manage staffing levels to match reservations, peak season demand, and special events, within the labour budget set with the General Manager.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, escalating to the General Manager when needed and turning service recoveries into loyalty-building moments.
- Approve comps and discounts within policy, and keep the comp request process and POS records accurate.
Food and Beverage Service
- Work closely with the Executive Chef to keep communication between kitchen and floor tight, including 86 updates at pre-shift and during service.
- Lead pre-shift meetings covering features, menu changes, wine pairings, and guest notes.
- Contribute to menu, beverage, and pricing reviews with the General Manager and Executive Chef.
- Oversee front of house inventory, including wine, bar, and retail stock counts and ordering.
- Ensure full compliance with BC Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) rules, FoodSafe, and Serving It Right standards on every shift.
Sales and Wine Club
- Drive sales across tasting experiences, retail wine, the Garden Bistro, the Wine Club, and private events.
- Coach the team on wine pairings, bottle sales, and recommendations that lift the average guest spend.
- Support growth and retention of the Wine Club so members feel valued and engaged year-round.
- Represent Peak Cellars with tour operators, hotels, concierges, and Scenic Sip Trail partners visiting the property.
Team Leadership and Culture
- Hire, train, and onboard front of house staff in partnership with the General Manager.
- Set clear expectations, give regular coaching and feedback, and contribute to performance reviews.
- Foster a culture of hospitality, accountability, professionalism, and pride in the Peak Cellars brand.
- Champion workplace health, safety, and inclusion on the floor.
Reporting and Controls
- Track daily sales, labour, voids, and discounts, and flag trends or issues to the General Manager.
- Prepare regular reports on front of house performance with clear, practical recommendations.
- Maintain opening, closing, cash-handling, and incident-reporting procedures.
- Follow BC Employment Standards, WorkSafeBC, food safety, and accessibility requirements, and support emergency procedures in line with estate-wide protocols.
QUALIFICATIONSExperience
- Minimum 4 to 5 years of hospitality leadership experience in a winery, restaurant, resort, or premium hospitality setting, with at least 2 years as a front of house, restaurant, or tasting room manager.
- Experience running more than one service area (for example a dining room plus a tasting room, bar, retail, or events) is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams of 15 or more through busy peak seasons.
- Knowledge of BC wine, hospitality, and tourism is a significant asset.
Skills and Requirements
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the presence to host VIP and trade guests.
- Comfortable with numbers: labour scheduling to budget, sales tracking, inventory, and cash controls.
- Working knowledge of point-of-sale, reservation, and wine club platforms (for example Tock, Commerce7, or equivalent).
- Sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and composure under pressure during peak service.
- Valid Class 5 BC driver's licence.
- Serving It Right and FoodSafe certification (or willingness to obtain before start).
- WSET Level 2 or equivalent wine education preferred; deeper wine knowledge is a strong asset.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays during peak season.
Key Competencies
- Hospitality-first mindset and close attention to guest experience.
- Hands-on, energetic leader who coaches people and builds robust teams.
- Commercially aware, with an eye for what lifts sales and protects margin.
- Brand steward who represents Peak Cellars with professionalism.
- Calm, decisive, and solutions-focused under pressure.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- On-site role at the Peak Cellars estate in Lake Country, BC, with most of your time on the floor across the tasting room, bistro, and grounds.
- A mix of indoor hospitality, outdoor service, and some office work, including exposure to weather during events and patio service.
- Active role that includes walking the property, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Schedule includes weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays during peak season, with a more balanced schedule in the off-season.
