ABOUT MARIC

Maric is an award-winning design-build company specializing in luxury custom homes and renovations, and a three-time recipient of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association National Award. We have been building homes and working with families for over 50 years. Our in-house design team works closely with our construction team so design intent is carried through to the finished home.

THE ROLE The Interior Design Drafting Technician turns our designers’ concepts into accurate, buildable interior drawing packages for custom homes and renovations. You will take daily work direction from the Lead Designer and Design Studio team, while the VP Design sets overall priorities and oversees the studio. Maric provides training on company workflows, residential building practices and software as required.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

· Draft interior construction documents: floor plans, interior elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans and lighting/electrical layouts.

· Detail kitchens, baths, millwork, cabinetry, fireplace walls, built-ins and closets for pricing, fabrication and installation.

· Translate designers’ sketches, mark-ups and selections into complete, dimensioned drawing sets.

· Prepare finish, fixture and selection schedules for client presentations and for site.

· Build 3D models and renderings in SketchUp to show design intent to clients.

· Prepare blueprints in SketchUp LayOut.

· Produce blueprints and 2D drawings in AutoCAD Architecture.

· Manage revisions through design and construction, including changes from field conditions,

and keep office record drawings and PDFs current.

· Coordinate drawings with cabinet and millwork suppliers, trades and the construction team, and review supplier shop drawings against design intent.

· Attend client meetings and job-site visits as required; take site measurements and document existing conditions on renovations.

· Attend weekly team meetings and report project status to the VP Design.

WHAT YOU BRING

· Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architectural Technology, Environmental Design or a related field.

· 2+ years of interior or residential drafting experience.

· Proficiency in SketchUp, SketchUp LayOut and AutoCAD; experience with other architectural software (e.g. Revit, Chief Architect, 2020 Design) is an asset.

· A good eye for a polished, client-ready rendering and the ability to produce and refine one (e.g. in Enscape or AI rendering tools); training provided.

· Ability to organize and lay out mood boards and client presentation boards so selections are clear and visually appealing.

· Strong knowledge of cabinetry, millwork, finishes and interior construction methods.

· Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications and building code requirements.

· Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, deadlines and accuracy.

· Professional communication and presentation skills; comfortable in client meetings.

· High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability.

· Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation for site visits.

ASSETS

· Experience in high-end residential or renovation work.

· Experience preparing permit drawings and familiarity with the Manitoba Building Code.

· Cabinet or millwork shop drawing experience.

· Construction or trades exposure.

· Experience with laser measuring or 3D scanning tools (e.g. Polycam, Matterport) for existing conditions.

· Knowledge of lighting and electrical layout.

· Familiarity with local suppliers, showrooms and current finish trends.

· Advanced rendering or image-editing skills (e.g. Photoshop, V-Ray, Lumion).
