e2 Electrical Engineering

Victoria

About e2

e2 Engineering is an electrical consulting firm with offices in Victoria and Nanaimo. We design electrical systems for residential, commercial, institutional, healthcare, recreational, and light industrial buildings across Vancouver Island and beyond.

Our work includes power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm, communications, security, and EV infrastructure. We work closely with architects, developers, contractors, and other consultants to take projects from initial design through construction.

We care about thoughtful design, clear drawings, and practical solutions. We’re building a team where people take pride in their work, support one another, and contribute to improving how we deliver our projects.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer / Designer who is ready to take meaningful ownership of projects and contribute to how e2 operates and grows.

You should be comfortable progressing electrical designs, coordinating with the project team, and resolving routine technical questions independently, with senior engineering review and support where needed. We value people who understand the reasoning behind their designs, recognize when something needs attention, and take initiative to move it forward.

Job Type – Full-time, Permanent, local candidates only, applicants who reside outside Vancouver Island will not be considered.

Benefits – Employees are eligible for enrollment in our company benefits package following successful completion of a three-month probationary period.

Schedule – Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (40 hours per week)

Work Remotely – No

What We Expect at e2

- Own your work and follow through. Understand the project scope, organize your workload, and deliver coordinated,

accurate work within the agreed schedule and budget. Raise concerns early and help resolve them.
- Think through the engineering. Understand how the systems you design will function, be installed, and interact with the building. Be prepared to explain your decisions and question details that do not make sense.
- Bring recommendations. Investigate issues, consider practical options, and come prepared with a suggested approach. Recognize when you need senior input and ask before an unresolved issue becomes a larger problem.
- Communicate directly and clearly. Take an active role in coordination with clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and utilities. Keep people informed and follow up on outstanding decisions.
- Help the team improve. Support junior staff, share your knowledge, and provide constructive feedback. Set an example through the quality of your work and how you work with others.
- Contribute to a better way of working. Identify opportunities to improve our design standards, tools, and processes. We want your ideas and your involvement in putting them into practice.

The Work You’ll be involved in electrical building projects from initial design through construction, including:

- Designing power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm, communications, security, and EV infrastructure.
- Preparing and checking drawings, calculations, equipment selections, and specifications.

- Applying electrical and building codes and coordinating requirements with other disciplines.
- Participating in project meetings, conducting site reviews, reviewing shop drawings, and responding to construction questions.

Your Experience and Qualifications

- At least four years of relevant experience in electrical building design and consulting.
- An electrical engineering degree, electrical engineering technology diploma, or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, applicable building codes, and relevant design standards.
- Experience preparing electrical drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit.

What We Offer

- Competitive compensation based on your experience and responsibilities.
- Comprehensive health and dental coverage.
- Mentorship and opportunities to develop your technical and leadership skills.
- Diverse projects with involvement throughout design and construction.
- A supportive team, company events, and opportunities to help shape how we work.

As your experience grows, you’ll have opportunities to lead larger projects, take on greater client responsibility, and help develop the team.
