The Junior CMM Programmer / Quality Engineer is responsible for ZEISS CALYPSO CMM programming, dimensional inspection, inspection planning, and quality assurance for Dishon's precision aerospace components. The role supports production prove‑outs, customer source inspections, nonconformance resolution, and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and engineering specifications. It requires working GD&T; literacy, sound measurement principles, and the discipline to maintain accurate inspection records and product traceability.
This position is designed for detail‑oriented engineers and technologists who demonstrate a bias for action, provide clear and practical feedback on the shop floor, and contribute to organizational knowledge by standardizing inspection methods and preventing recurring nonconformances.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Responsibilities
- CMM programming and customer requirements: Develop and maintain ZEISS CALYPSO CMM programs in accordance with customer drawings, GD&T;, specifications, and revision requirements.
- Inspection planning and drawing review: Review customer drawings and GD&T; to establish appropriate inspection methods, equipment, and sampling plans.
- First‑off inspection and production feedback: Perform first‑off inspections during prove‑outs, communicate deviations, and verify corrective adjustments through re‑inspection.
- Inspection reporting: Produce CMM reports in PiWeb and upload results to 1Factory in support of inspection reports and process capability analysis.
Quality & Compliance
- Nonconformance and corrective action management: Raise NCRs, support containment and disposition, follow up on RCCA activities, and verify corrective action effectiveness.
- First Article Inspection (FAI) support: Assist with FAI activities, including dimensional reports, ballooned drawings in 1Factory, and AS9102 documentation.
- Customer source inspection and CMM audit support: Prepare inspection records, demonstrate measurement methods,
and address audit findings.
- Follow Dishon's AS9100‑based quality management system, including document control, revision control, calibration status, and traceability.
- Support the Material Review Board (MRB) with prioritized accountability; act as MRB deputy as assigned.
Collaboration & Knowledge Development
- Shop‑floor support and operator training: Assist operators with measurement techniques, drawing interpretation, GD&T;, and proper use of inspection equipment.
- Production and engineering coordination: Collaborate with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Applications Engineering to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Continuous improvement: Standardize inspection methods and work instructions to improve consistency and prevent recurring nonconformances.
- Process improvement: Analyze inspection results and recurring defects to reduce scrap, rework, and inspection inefficiencies.
Behavioral Expectations
- Maintain robust attention to detail and accurate, complete inspection records.
- Make decisions based on measurement data; state uncertainty and risks clearly.
- Provide clear, practical, and respectful technical feedback to production personnel.
- Show curiosity and commitment to expanding knowledge in metrology, GD&T;, and quality engineering.
