About e2

e2 Engineering is an electrical consulting firm with offices in Victoria and Nanaimo. We design electrical systems for residential, commercial, institutional, healthcare, recreational, and light industrial buildings across Vancouver Island and beyond.

Our work includes power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm, communications, security, and EV infrastructure. We work closely with architects, developers, contractors, and other consultants to take projects from initial design through construction.

We care about thoughtful design, clear drawings, and practical solutions. We’re building a team where people take pride in their work, support one another, and contribute to improving how we deliver our projects.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Junior Electrical Engineer / Designer who is curious, motivated, and ready to build a career in electrical building design.

You’ll work alongside experienced designers and engineers, developing your technical knowledge while contributing to real projects. We’ll provide guidance and support, and we expect you to take an active role in your development by asking thoughtful questions, applying feedback, and taking increasing responsibility as your skills grow.

Job Type – Full time, Permanent, local candidates only, applicants who reside outside Vancouver Island will not be considered.

Benefits – Employees are eligible for enrollment in our company benefits package following successful completion of a three-month probationary period.

Schedule – Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (40 hours per week)

What We Expect at e2

- Take ownership of your work. Understand what you have been asked to do, keep track of your tasks, and follow through. Let your project lead know early if something is unclear or a deadline is at risk.
- Understand what you’re drawing. Learn how electrical systems function and how they are installed.

Ask why a design decision has been made, and flag details that do not make sense.
- Make an effort to work through problems. Review the available information, consider possible solutions, and bring your questions to the team. Recognize when you need guidance and ask before proceeding on an uncertain assumption.
- Check your work and apply feedback. Review your drawings before handing them over, follow company standards, and carry lessons from one task into the next.
- Communicate and support the team. Keep your project lead informed, follow up on outstanding items, and work professionally with coworkers and external project teams.
- Contribute to a better way of working. Share ideas, point out recurring issues, and help improve our drawings, tools, and processes as you become familiar with the work.

The Work You’ll support electrical building projects from initial design through construction, including:

- Developing drawings for power distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm, communications, security, and EV infrastructure.
- Assisting with calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and code research.
- Coordinating electrical drawings with architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, and interior design information.
- Participating in project meetings and site reviews, and assisting with shop drawing reviews, construction questions, and project documentation under the guidance of experienced team members.

Your Experience and Qualifications

- An electrical engineering degree,

electrical engineering technology diploma, or equivalent practical experience.
- A foundation in electrical principles and an interest in learning the Canadian Electrical Code, applicable building codes, and design standards.
- The ability to read construction drawings, with attention to detail and a willingness to develop your coordination skills.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit is an asset.
- Previous experience in electrical construction or building design is an asset. Applicants beginning their careers are also welcome.

What We Offer

- Competitive compensation based on your experience and responsibilities.
- Comprehensive health and dental coverage, with eligibility following successful completion of a three-month probationary period.
- Mentorship and opportunities to develop your technical and project coordination skills.
- Diverse projects with involvement throughout design and construction.
- A supportive team, company events, and opportunities to help shape how we work.

As your skills develop, you’ll have opportunities to take greater ownership of designs, coordinate directly with project teams, and progress into an intermediate role.
