Live-In Caregiver and Companion – Elderly Woman and Adult with Special Needs

Compensation: $3,500 gross per month, plus private accommodation; assistance with immigration process will be provided

We are looking for an experienced, kind and dependable live-in caregiver to assist two family members in a comfortable private home in Saskatoon.

The position involves caring for a generally healthy elderly woman who is largely independent but requires some assistance with dressing, personal grooming and bathing. It also includes assisting a middle-aged man with special needs, particularly with personal grooming, hygiene and daily routines.

Both individuals benefit from a patient, friendly and supportive caregiver who respects their independence and dignity. Both are generally independent and very healthy.

You can expect many hours of free and independent time each day. A detailed and typical daily work schedule will be provided to potential qualified matches.

Responsibilities

- Assist the elderly woman with bathing, dressing, grooming and personal hygiene as needed.
- Assist the adult gentleman with special needs with grooming, personal hygiene and daily activities.
- Prepare meals and encourage proper nutrition and hydration- a love for food and cooking/baking is a definite asset
- Provide medication reminders as required.
- Offer companionship, conversation and emotional support.
- Assist with mobility and general household safety.
- Perform light housekeeping, laundry and related household duties.
- Accompany family members to appointments and errands when needed.
- Communicate regularly with the family regarding any concerns or changes in care needs.

Qualifications

- Previous hands-on experience working with elderly individuals is required.
- Experience caring for adults with special needs is strongly preferred.
- Must be genuinely kind, patient, compassionate and enjoy working with people.




- Respectful of individual preferences, personal boundaries and independence.
- Familiarity and comfort with basic digital devices: iPhone, digital tablets, various app usages
- Reliable, trustworthy, responsible and attentive.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence is an asset but not necessary.

Schedule and Working Arrangements

- Eight hours of active work per day, scheduled in split shifts over a 16-hour span.
- The schedule will include morning and evening caregiving duties, with off-duty periods between shifts.
- Two consecutive days off per week.
- Living on the premises does not mean being continuously on duty. Off-duty periods are personal time, and any additional work will be compensated in accordance with applicable employment standards.

Compensation and Accommodation

- Total package of wages + benefits valued at over $5200 per month
- $3,500 gross per month, subject to applicable employment standards.
- Private, furnished lower-level suite with bedroom, living area and bathroom.
- Utilities, internet and shared groceries included, with no accommodation deductions.

- Added perks are valued at $1700 per month
- Vehicle available for caregiving-related errands.

Commitment We are looking for someone who is interested in a stable, long-term position and is prepared to make a two-year commitment. Continuity of care, reliability and developing a trusting relationship with both family members are especially important to us.
