Job Summary

We are hiring a Packaging & Production Supervisor to lead daily packing and production operations in a food processing and fresh produce packaging setting. This role supervises packaging staff, ensures food safety and quality compliance, and manages production schedules while maintaining a safe workplace.

The ideal candidate has hands-on supervisory experience in food manufacturing, produce packing, or packaging operations, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, labor-intensive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Packaging Operations

- Supervise daily packaging, packing, and production operations
- Schedule and coordinate production staff to meet output targets
- Oversee produce receiving, grading, packing, and shipping
- Monitor workflow, production efficiency, and labor utilization
- Maintain accurate production reports and records
- Operate and supervise sorting, packaging, and processing equipment

Quality Assurance & Food Safety
- Inspect products prior to packaging to ensure quality standards
- Enforce HACCP, GAP, food safety, and sanitation procedures
- Maintain an audit-ready food processing facility
- Ensure compliance with local and national food safety regulations
- Train employees on quality control and food safety practices

Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, train, and supervise packers, graders, and production workers
- Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor employee performance
- Provide coaching, training, and corrective action as required
- Foster a safe, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
- Be hands-on in a labor-intensive production setting

Health & Safety
- Identify and correct workplace hazards
- Train employees on safe equipment operation and PPE use
- Maintain proper housekeeping, sanitation, and facility cleanliness

Equipment, Inventory & Facilities
- Start, adjust,



and monitor packaging and processing equipment
- Report equipment maintenance and repair needs
- Supervise inventory control of packaging materials and supplies
- Coordinate ordering and prevent supply shortages
- Support preventative maintenance and facility upkeep

Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
- Control labor costs, shrink, and overhead expenses
- Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency
- Work closely with management on operational improvements
- Support implementation of new equipment and production methods

Additional Duties
- Perform shipping, receiving, and delivery duties as required
- Provide accurate operational updates to management
- Work Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday, or additional hours during peak harvest seasons (in compliance with BC Employment Standards)

Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years supervisory experience of 10 employees or more in a food processing, manufacturing, packaging, or produce operations
- Experience in fresh produce packing or food production environments
- Knowledge of HACCP, GAP, food safety, and quality assurance
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Forklift certification required
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ERP experience an asset
- Ability to work flexible hours during peak production periods
