Yorkview Daycare Centre is looking for a caring, reliable, and flexible Part time On-Call Supply Teacher to support our childcare team.

The successful candidate will provide coverage when regular staff members are away on vacation, call in sick, or are otherwise unavailable. This position requires someone who can respond to last-minute staffing needs and is comfortable working on an on-call basis.

Candidates living in Thornhill or nearby areas are strongly preferred due to the need for reliable and timely availability.

An ECE diploma is not required for this position. Previous childcare experience is an asset.

Key Responsibilities

- Be available for on-call shifts, including occasional last-minute requests.
- Supervise children and support their safety and well-being.
- Assist with daily routines, meals, rest periods, outdoor play, and transitions.
- Support play-based activities and children's learning and development.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
- Follow centre policies, health and safety procedures, and directions from the Supervisor.
- Work cooperatively with educators and other team members.
- Help maintain a positive, nurturing, and welcoming environment for children.
- Provide classroom coverage for staff vacations, sick calls, and unexpected absences.

Qualifications




- ECE diploma is not required.
- Previous experience in a daycare or childcare setting is an asset.
- Must be caring, patient, responsible, and dependable.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be flexible and willing to accept occasional short-notice shifts.
- Living in Thornhill or nearby areas is strongly preferred.
- Must meet applicable Ontario childcare staffing, screening, and documentation requirements.
- Vulnerable sector check, First Aid and CPR certification, and other documentation as required for the position.

Availability Requirements
- Part-time, on-call employment.
- Availability to cover vacation periods and sick calls.
- Willingness to accept shifts based on operational needs.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to arrive at the centre on time are preferred.
