Clinical Deployment Engineer
Location: Remote (Canada)
Salary: $90,000–$125,000 CAD, depending on experience
Type: Full-Time
Auxo is hiring a Clinical Deployment Engineer (Forward Deployed Engineer) for a Canadian healthtech startup building software that helps hospitals optimize patient care, clinical workflows, and resource allocation.
This is a hybrid engineering and customer-facing role where you'll work directly with hospital teams to understand their operations, investigate complex data, configure software, and build the integrations and automations needed to make it work.
You'll own deployments from initial discovery through go-live, combining hands-on technical problem-solving with real-world clinical impact. If you enjoy figuring out unfamiliar systems, writing code, and working directly with the people using your solutions, this role offers all three.
What You'll Do
- Own technical deployments across hospital environments, from initial discovery and configuration through go-live.
- Work directly with clinical teams to understand their workflows, operational challenges, and scheduling constraints.
- Investigate unfamiliar hospital databases using SQL, interpret complex datasets, and identify integration requirements.
- Develop and maintain integrations between the platform and hospital systems, including HL7 and EHR interfaces.
- Write Python scripts, troubleshoot technical issues, and make changes to existing code when needed.
- Configure scheduling rules, patient priorities, resource availability, and clinical workflow parameters.
- Build automations that reduce manual administrative work and improve operational efficiency.
- Guide hospital stakeholders through implementation, training, and workflow changes.
- Collaborate with software engineers and DevOps to resolve complex issues and improve future deployments.
- Help standardize deployment processes while ensuring solutions remain reliable and appropriate for clinical environments.
Who You Are
- Comfortable working hands-on with Python and SQL , including writing scripts, querying databases, and investigating technical issues.
- Able to navigate the command line, explore unfamiliar systems, and learn new technical environments independently.
- Capable of reading existing code, troubleshooting problems, and implementing practical solutions.
- Solid analytical thinker who can investigate ambiguous problems, form hypotheses, and work toward solutions.
- Able to translate operational requirements into technical configurations, integrations, or code changes.
- Comfortable communicating directly with customers and explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Interested in understanding how complex organizations operate and how technology can improve their workflows.
- Resourceful, curious, and motivated by solving real problems rather than working exclusively on software development.
- Comfortable taking ownership of technical work while recognizing the importance of reliability and sensitive data handling.
We're open to different experience levels , including exceptional recent graduates. Your ability to learn, solve problems, and work with people matters more than a specific number of years in the industry.
Nice to Have
- Background in operations research, industrial engineering, applied mathematics, or systems optimization.
- Experience working with healthcare organizations, hospital operations, or clinical data.
- Familiarity with HL7, EHR systems, or complex enterprise integrations.
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Professional fluency in both French and English, particularly in customer-facing settings.
