Young Adult Cancer Canada

Canada

Young Adult Cancer Canada’s (YACC) Board of Directors plays a vital role in governing YACC, overseeing the implementation of our strategy and providing support to the organization. We are always open to hearing from passionate and experienced individuals who are interested in joining our Board.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to support young adults living with, through, and beyond cancer. To be the connection to peers, bridge out of isolation, and source of inspiration. Every cancer, every stage, YACC’s got your back.

CURRENTLY SEEKING BOARD MEMBER(S) WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE

We are seeking applicants for our board who are survivors of young adult cancer (dx between 0-39, currently aged 18+) and have participated in YACC through volunteering and/or participation in programs, but and who are now looking to give back to the community in a different way.

Ideally those that apply also have some previous experience in some of the following: governance and leadership experience in complex organizations, skills in legal and/or accounting, fundraising, change management, and digital transformation across an enterprise. YACC is in a growth phase, and these experiences would be an asset. Applicants will be passionate about helping other young adults with cancer access the programs at YACC and care about being part of a team delivering on our yearly goals.

WHAT IS EXPECTED

As an applicant, you should have a strong desire to help young adults with cancer access the programs and services offered by YACC.

We seek individuals who are dedicated to contributing to a collaborative team and who are passionate about achieving our strategic goals.

Responsibilities for YACC Board positions include:

- Participating in Board meetings and assisting in strategic planning and oversight of YACC
- Providing leadership and guidance on fundraising and philanthropic efforts
- Helping cultivate and leverage strategic partnerships to expand YACC’s reach and impact
- Leveraging networks to engage with supporters who can help ensure the long-term financial stability of YACC

This volunteer commitment entails attending board and/or committee meetings, participating in board development activities, and engaging in other relevant initiatives. While regular meetings (typically 7-8 per year) are generally held online, we strive to bring everyone together for an in-person board meeting/event once a year, when possible.

SOUND GOOD? LET'S HEAR FROM YOU

If you are interested in this chance, please send an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Lesley Morrissey at [email protected].

In your EOI, kindly outline your philanthropic, fundraising, partnership experience, community involvement, and any knowledge of YACC. Please note that all candidates will be asked to provide a Criminal/Vulnerable Sector check during the recruitment process.

YACC values diversity in all its forms and encourages every person interested to apply.
