Job Summary

Rio Terrace School is seeking a reliable Lunchroom Supervisor to help ensure students have a safe, positive, and welcoming environment during lunch periods.

- The Lunchroom Supervisor helps create a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment for students during meal periods.
- This role supports students as they eat in their classrooms, play outside, and transition back to class, while encouraging respectful behavior and following school safety procedures.
- The position is well suited to someone who enjoys working with children and can provide patient, attentive supervision.

Duties

- Supervise students in the lunchroom and during related transitions.
- Encourage protected, respectful behavior and help students follow lunchroom routines.
- Provide age-appropriate assistance with meals and daily needs while supporting students’ independence.
- Offer calm, respectful support to students who need additional assistance, including individuals with diverse needs, abilities and backgrounds.
- Monitor the lunchroom for safety concerns and report incidents or concerns to the appropriate school staff.
- Help maintain a clean, organized space by supporting students with cleanup and following established procedures.




- Communicate clearly and professionally with students, teachers, and school staff.
- Foster an inclusive and respectful school community.

Skills

- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Caregiving experience is helpful, particularly in providing patient and attentive support.
- Classroom experience is an asset.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is valued.
- Teaching experience or familiarity with positive behavior guidance is beneficial.
- Early childhood education coursework or experience is a plus.
- Strong communication, observation, and organization skills.
- Dependable, calm, and able to maintain appropriate boundaries while supervising students.

Hours

Approximately 1 hour per day, 5 hours per week, during the school year.

Screening Requirements

- Minimum Age: 18 years old
- A valid Police Record Check
- Two professional references
