- Aquatics Internal/External Posting Date: October 09, 2026 Internal/External Closing Date: October 25, 2026 2026 Hourly Rate: $36.39 after probation Hours of Work: 25 hours per week Competition No.: 2026-73 The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for a part-time Aquatics Lifeguard/Instructor I. This position performs lifeguarding functions and provides instruction in some aquatic programs and skills at the Kenn Borek Aquatic Centre as well as minor maintenance. The lifeguard/instructor I must have a minimum of one year experience in an aquatic environment. What You’ll Do
• Provides lifeguarding duties at aquatic functions.
• Provides instruction, supervision and ensures safety for swimming and other aquatic programs.
• Ensure that all necessary equipment is in good working order and ready for immediate or emergency use.
• In advance, prepare lesson plans and evaluations.
• Monitors and records pool conditions when necessary. The ideal candidate possesses the capacity to perform all duties in a secure manner while fostering positive relationships with both the public and fellow staff. Requirements:
• Current National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option).
• Current Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED.
• Lifesaving Swim Instructor certification.
• A minimum of 528 hours lifeguarding and/or swim instruction experience.
• Compliance with and approval of a Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Sector.
