We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic French speaker to join our team at Oxford Learning Stouffville. You will help students progress from “Je ne sais pas” to “Oh la la”. Students will be taught in small groups with a maximum of three students per teacher. We provide all curriculum materials; teachers do not need to lesson plan.
Position Requirements
All Teacher‑Tutors work after‑school and evening hours (3:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and some Saturdays (10:00 am – 3:00 pm). Commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through the summer is even better. Availability in person is required.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
- Teaching certification is an asset
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 3 to 12 French core curriculum
Experience
- Some experience teaching or tutoring French at a Grade 3‑12 level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Robust French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities
- Teach up to three students at a time at different levels
- Conduct sessions in French
- Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
- Fill in post‑lesson notes
- Complete daily student communication updates
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
