Financial Controller
on behalf of a privately owned group of two established businesses in the Niagara Region, with locations in St. Catharines and Niagara Falls. Locally rooted and owner-led, this is a place where decisions get made quickly, people know each other by name, and your work has a direct impact on how both businesses run and grow.As the Financial Controller leading finance for both companies, you’ll work directly with the owner, turning the numbers into clear insight that shapes the decisions ahead.This is a full-time, permanent, in-person position, with the flexibility to work from either the St. Catharines or Niagara Falls location, as business needs require.What They Offer

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledgerManage intercompany transactions and financial reporting for both entities, including consolidated reporting for the ownerPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE)Manage inventory accounting and cost of goods sold reconciliationDevelop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projectionsEnsure compliance with tax filings,



year-end requirements, and regulatory obligationsImplement and maintain solid internal controls to safeguard company assetsAnalyze location-level and company-wide financial performance, identifying trends and opportunitiesSupervise and mentor accounting staffLiaise with external accountants, banks, and tax authoritiesProvide the owner with financial insights for strategic decision-makingKey Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent preferred)5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally in retailStrong knowledge of ASPE, inventory accounting, and financial reportingExperience managing finances for multiple entities is an assetProficiency in accounting software (e.G., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and advanced Excel skillsExcellent analytical, organizational, and leadership abilitiesStrong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesValid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle to travel between locations as neededIn accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code, accommodations are available upon request for applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process.
