ZS Law Professional Corporation is a full-service law firm with offices in Toronto and Ottawa, representing individuals and businesses. Our litigation practice covers civil and commercial disputes, family law, employment law and landlord and tenant law. We act in the Superior Court of Justice, before tribunals and in commercial arbitrations across Ontario.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a junior litigation associate to join our Toronto team. Working closely with the partners, the successful candidate will help prepare the documents each file requires, take part in case analysis and strategy discussions, and appear in court regularly.
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, motion materials, mediation and conference briefs, and settlement agreements
- Argue motions and attend case conferences, mediations and pre-trial conferences
- Conduct examinations for discovery and cross-examinations
- Advise clients and deal with opposing counsel at each stage of a file
Requirements
- Licensed as a lawyer by the Law Society of Ontario, in good standing
- At least one year of meaningful litigation experience, including drafting your own pleadings, motion materials, mediation and conference briefs, and settlement agreements
- Solid working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Outstanding communication skills, both with clients and as an advocate in court
- Clear and concise drafting
- Able to attend court, examinations and client meetings in person across the GTA
Compensation
Salary of $70,000 to $110,000 a year, depending on experience
