SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Gym/Club Programming,



the Youth Facilitator oversees the accommodations and integration of youth participants into recreation facilities and programs. Plans and organizes recreational and outdoor programs for youth participants (aged 12-17).

GENERAL DUTIES

Assists in the implementation and coordination of daily recreational and outdoor programs for youth. Ensures programming accommodations are made to ensure the successful participation of youth from diverse backgrounds during all group activities, including newcomers and youth with social or mental health referrals/challenges. Leads specialized programs and courses for youth development (ie. leadership programs)

Develops and submits for approval weekly programs or special events appropriate for the youth age group. Provides input into Instructor program plans to suggest required accommodations or program adaptations, as required (for example: fitness programs, music instruction).

Maintains a safe setting for all participants during all program activities or offsite trips or walks.

Assists with identifying youth requiring targeted referrals for mental health, family, school, or behaviour supports.

Performs other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience working with youth aged 12-17.
