Younger woman (in her 30's) with a physical disability looking for a Personal Care Attendant in Sarsfield, Ontario, for occasional/on-call shifts. The ideal candidate will have a few years' experience working with younger people with disabilities. A minimum of 3 years of experience working with people with disabilities, in Canada, is required. Responsibilities include: -Assistance with activities of daily living (getting dressed, bathing, transfers, eating, including light meal preparation, going to the bathroom, etc.) -Assistance with gross motor and fine motor tasks -Assistance with some household tasks such as tidying, organizing and sorting (cleaning is done by family) -Possibility of accompaniment to medical appointments -Possibility of shifts solely for meal preparation (to relieve family)

Requirements:
-Fluency in English -Ability to understand and follow instructions -Ability to perform common household tasks, without training or supervision (such as making a bed, how to operate common kitchen equipment such as a microwave, toaster, etc., how to prepare common food items such as toast, cereal, etc.)



-Ability to identify common household objects and foods -Strong judgment and common sense -Ability to handle difficult situations and to work under pressure -No PSW certificate required -3 years experience working with people with physical disabilities, in Canada (including experience working with younger adults with physical disabilities) -Familiarity with neurological conditions such as CP, MS, ALS, FND, etc. -Strong sense of customer service and professionalism -Strong sense of accountability, reliability and punctuality Personal attributes -Compassion and understanding -Patience and valuable attitude -Flexibility and willingness to accommodate Please note that this job is located in Sarsfield (rural east end of Ottawa).
