CAMH seeks newly graduated Registered Practical Nurses for Emergency Department practice, supporting crisis management and acute mental health care at Queen Street.

Through the Nursing Innovation & Transition Program, this Registered Practical Nurse position provides a 12-week residency on one unit. Candidates receive learning and development support while transitioning toward nursing roles within CAMH after residency. The Emergency Department serves diverse clients with crisis and acute mental health needs. Emergency or mental health experience is not required; interest and aptitude for this setting are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide direct client- and family-centered mental health and addictions care
- Collaborate within an interprofessional care team
- Conduct behavioral, mental status, physical health, and risk assessments




- Monitor responses to pharmaceutical and care interventions
- Document electronically and coordinate communication across services

Requirements:

- Eligibility for Ontario’s Nursing Graduate Guarantee Initiative
- Registration pathway meeting CNO requirements within twelve months
- Current CPR/BCLS certification and computer literacy
- Effective communication, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work shifts and weekends at Queen Street
