About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a woman in her early stages of dementia living in Brampton with her husband and son. She worked in Canada for over 30 years before retiring due to her condition. She's currently experiencing word-finding difficulties and has become more reserved, rarely leaving her home. She struggles with depression and sometimes lacks the desire to eat. She's introverted by nature and responds best to calm, patient encouragement. Currently, she receives morning support from another caregiver who assists with showering and dressing from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. She typically wakes around 9:30-10:00 AM and waits for assistance before starting her day. She still believes she's working, so maintaining a structured daily routine is key to give her something to look forward to.

Responsibilities:

- Provide companionship and emotional support during late morning to mid-afternoon hours
- Encourage and accompany her on short outdoor walks, even just 5 minutes, to change her environment
- Prepare or reheat lunch and encourage her to eat regular meals
- Engage in conversation, card games, board games, or other activities she enjoys
- Provide memory prompts and gentle redirection as needed
- Light housekeeping to maintain hygienic living spaces
- Assist with toileting and personal hygiene as needed
- Provide medication reminders
- Occasional transportation for errands or appointments
- Help establish and maintain a daily routine that gives her purpose and structure

What We're Looking For:

- Female caregiver with a calm, patient, and mellow personality
- Experience supporting individuals with early-stage dementia and memory changes

- Comfortable with personal care including toileting support
- Ability to provide gentle encouragement without being overly outgoing
- Strong initiative and communication skills
- Reliable and consistent presence
- Valid driver's license for occasional outings
- Someone who respects her independence while ensuring her safety

Schedule:

Daily visits, 7 days per week, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM (2 hours per day). This schedule provides consistency during her most active hours and ensures she receives lunch support. The family is open to adjusting hours as needs evolve.
