Join us as we change healthcare for the better.
OceanMD, a WELLSTAR Company, is the leading provider of EMR-integrated Patient Engagement and eReferral tools in Canada, playing a critical role in millions of patient visits and thousands of referrals every week. Our digital healthcare solutions empower patients and physicians to overcome the barriers preventing the timely delivery of healthcare services. By replacing paper forms with digital tools, we give patients and providers secure ways to connect, share health information, and update patient records. Our tools:
- Empower patients to share health information with their physician before, during, and after visits, helping to ensure health records are up-to-date and accurate while improving patient care.
- Meet the growing demand for digital solutions with online booking and secure messaging that improves the patient’s experience, reduces the need for unnecessary phone calls, and makes clinics more efficient.
- Improve access to care by replacing faxes, displaying wait times, and reducing the time to process and access specialist referrals.
Who we need
Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Operations and working closely alongside the Chief Operating Officer, we are hiring a Communications Strategist to shape how OceanMD communicates its vision, strategic priorities, and impact across the healthcare industry. Working closely with senior executives, business leaders, and subject matter experts, you will translate complex ideas, technical information, and business strategies into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with physicians, healthcare partners, and other key audiences. You will lead the development of executive communications, thought leadership, white papers, presentations, and digital content,
while combining strategic storytelling, strong writing, and visual communication to bring ideas to life. From shaping the message to delivering the final product, you will help strengthen OceanMD's voice and communicate the value of its digital healthcare solutions.
This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring two to three days per week in our Toronto office.
What’s in it for you
Impact. You will play a key role in shaping how OceanMD communicates its vision, expertise, and impact on Canadian healthcare. Your work will help bring complex healthcare challenges and innovative digital solutions to life through clear, compelling stories that resonate with physicians, healthcare leaders, and industry partners. You will have the opportunity to influence important conversations about the future of healthcare and how technology can improve access to care.
Creative ownership and influence. You will work directly with senior executives and subject matter experts, gaining firsthand insight into business strategy, emerging ideas, and industry priorities. You will have the autonomy to shape messaging from initial concept through final delivery, bringing your strategic thinking, writing, and visual storytelling skills to a wide range of high-profile communications. As part of a newly evolving function, you will help establish the approach, voice,
and standards for how OceanMD tells its story.
Career growth and opportunity. You will have the chance to expand your influence beyond traditional communications, gaining exposure to executive decision-making, business strategy, and the evolving digital healthcare landscape. You will build relationships across the organization, deepen your understanding of healthcare technology, and help shape a communications function with the potential to grow into broader marketing leadership responsibilities over time.
How you will make an impact
- Shape strategic communications. You will work closely with senior executives and business leaders to translate OceanMD's vision, priorities, and complex ideas into clear, compelling messages. You will help define the narrative, identify the right audience, and develop communications that strengthen OceanMD's voice and influence across the healthcare industry.
- Develop thought leadership and compelling content. You will create high-quality communications across a range of formats, including white papers, executive briefings, speeches, articles, LinkedIn posts, and industry presentations. You will turn technical information, healthcare insights, and business strategies into engaging, credible content that resonates with physicians, healthcare leaders, and industry partners.
- Bring stories to life visually. You will develop compelling presentations and visual narratives that make complex information easier to understand and communicate. Working with executives and internal teams, you will shape the structure, messaging, and visual flow of slide decks, strategic presentations, and other materials to ensure ideas are communicated clearly
