About UN Association in Canada & Rexdale Community Health Centre

The United Nations Association in Canada (UNA-Canada) is a national charitable organization with the mandate of educating and engaging Canadians in the work of the United Nations (UN) and the critical global issues that affect us both in Canada and internationally. Established in 1946, we are as committed and relevant as ever in today’s Canada. We highlight and help Canadians live out the SDGs in our context. We grow global citizens who embrace the principles of the UN in order to build a stronger, more outward-looking Canada. Finally, we are also committed to maintaining peace and unity in Canada from grassroots to Ottawa by helping build bridges and connecting people to find common ground irrespective of political, racial or any other divide.

Rexdale Community Health Centre (RCHC) is a non-profit, multi-service, community-based organization that serves communities in Rexdale and North-West Etobicoke. Operating out of three locations, RCHC offers core services that include primary health care, health promotion, community development programs, Pathways to Education, and the Diabetes Education Centre.

This project is a collaboration between the United Nations Association in Canada (UNAC)

and Rexdale Community Health Centre to design and implement the Building Opportunities for Youth in Rexdale (BOYR) project, aimed at supporting youth through community-based programming, skills development, and engagement opportunities. As part of BOYR, UNAC is seeking a proactive, youth-focused Youth Employment & Job Readiness Facilitator to help participants explore employment opportunities, develop practical job-search skills and connect with employers. The facilitator will support approximately 12–14 youth annually in accessing meaningful employment opportunities and navigating the transition into the workforce.

Position Summary

The Youth Employment & Job Readiness Facilitator will provide practical, individualized employment support, combining job-readiness coaching with active employer outreach and employment opportunity development. The successful candidate will help youth identify suitable jobs, prepare applications, practise interviews and understand workplace expectations. A key responsibility will be to proactively identify and contact local employers, develop relationships and facilitate connections that can lead to interviews and employment for BOYR participants. Given that many participants are 16–17 years old and may have limited access to transportation,

priority will be given to employment opportunities in Rexdale and nearby communities that youth can reasonably access.

This is a hybrid position requiring both work from home and in-person engagement with youth, employers and community partners in Rexdale and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

- Employer Outreach and Job Placement
- Identify and contact local employers in Rexdale and surrounding communities to source suitable part-time, after-school, weekend, summer and entry-level jobs for BOYR youth.
- Conduct employer outreach by phone, email and in person to develop relationships, identify vacancies and facilitate employment opportunities.
- Match youth with suitable jobs based on their interests, skills, availability, age and transportation needs.
- Maintain an active network of employers willing to consider youth with limited or no work experience.
- Job Readiness and Career Support
- Support youth with resumes, cover letters, job applications, job searches and interview preparation.
- Coach participants on workplace expectations, professional communication, punctuality, teamwork and employee responsibilities.
- Provide individualized guidance throughout the job-search process, from application and interview to employment and workplace adjustment.
- Program Coordination and Reporting
- Track employer contacts, job leads, applications, interviews, placements and employment outcomes.
- Maintain accurate participant records and provide regular progress updates to the BOYR Project Manager.
- Collaborate with the BOYR team and community partners to address employment barriers and strengthen local employment pathways for youth.
