Type of position: Regular Your future role on our team This opportunity is for a motivated geotechnical engineer who is team-oriented and has outstanding experience assessing, analyzing, designing and demonstrating leadership across the mining, oil sands, hydroelectric and heavy civil infrastructure sectors. Your primary role will be to engage with our clients to solve their most complex challenges. You’ll work closely with our senior, intermediate and junior geotechnical and civil engineers to deliver these projects, while also driving the business development and strategic growth of BBA's geotechnical services in Alberta. Alberta faces some of Canada’s most complex geotechnical challenges, from oil sands tailings dams and mine waste facilities to hydroelectric and decarbonization projects. To meet this demand, BBA has built a team of more than 100 specialists in Calgary and Edmonton and is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer. This role is ideal for a doer-seller who serves as a trusted advisor to clients, builds strong client relationships, wins new work and leads technical reviews while remaining hands‑on to stamp drawings, defend designs, mentor teams and deliver high‑quality projects. Entrepreneurial spirit Results‑driven Willingness to work together while having fun Constantly seeking sustainable and agile solutions Ability to look beyond established standards Rigorous and ethical Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, with an emphasis on geotechnical engineering More than 20 years of experience in geotechnical projects High proficiency with advanced 2 D and 3 D static and energetic soil‑structure interaction and geostructural design software, such as Rocscience (RS2/RS3, RSpile, Slide2/3), Geo Studio (Slope/W, Sigma/W, Seep/W) and Plaxis Deep knowledge of geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics, rock mechanics and applicable Alberta codes, standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., APEGA, Alberta Dam and Canal Safety Directive) Professional Engineer designation with the APEGA, or equivalent Excellent technical writing skills, with proven experience preparing high‑quality engineering reports, memoranda and design documentation Asset: a track record of personally generating new business and expanding client accounts; true doer‑seller experience An Overview Of BBA’s Total Rewards Annual premium program for regular employees Onsite mobility premium Time
