Support complex cardiac procedures as a Cardiovascular Perfusionist at UHN’s Toronto General Hospital, using cardiopulmonary bypass expertise and technical precision. Variable 24/7 shifts support permanent full time Surgical Services work.

UHN’s Perfusion Services supports Toronto’s busiest operating room suite and conducts 1,750 cardiac surgeries annually. This position serves cardiac and non-cardiac procedures while supporting transplant, organ regeneration, ECLS, and Ventricular Assist Device programs. The role reports to the Perfusion Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assemble, calibrate, and operate heart-lung machines
- Maintain circulatory support and patient homeostasis during bypass
- Monitor myocardial preservation throughout cardiopulmonary bypass
- Deliver prescribed gases, anesthetics,



drugs, and blood products
- Operate Ventricular Assist Devices and support specialized therapies

Requirements:

- BSc degree and diploma in Cardiovascular Perfusion
- Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion certification or eligibility
- Knowledge of adult and pediatric extracorporeal physiology
- Excellent judgment, problem recognition, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication during critical perfusion procedures
