An exceptional opportunity for a mid-level Internal Communications Manager to shape the future of PR & Communications in Oxford.
Internal communications has quietly become one of the sharpest disciplines in PR & Communications. Businesses that grew quick over the last few years are now realising that a strong external message means nothing if staff don't understand or believe it. This is a growing SME based in Oxford, the kind of organisation that has scaled past the "everyone knows everything" stage and now needs someone to build proper internal communication channels, structures and habits from the ground up.
Here you'll be doing:
- Plan and deliver internal communications campaigns that connect leadership decisions to everyday staff understanding
- Write and edit content for intranet updates, newsletters, town halls and leadership briefings
- Manage the internal communications calendar and keep messaging consistent across departments
- Advise senior leaders on tone, timing and framing for sensitive or high-stakes announcements
- Measure engagement with internal content and adjust the approach based on what actually lands
- Coordinate with HR and external PR & Communications teams so internal and external messages don't contradict each other
Here are the skills you'll need:
- Proven experience in an internal communications,
PR or corporate communications role
- Excellent written English with the ability to translate corporate detail into something people actually read
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders without being talked over
- Working knowledge of intranet platforms, email tools and internal survey software
- Good judgement under pressure. Some announcements need care, not just speed
- Organisational skills that hold up when three projects land on the same day
Key perks and benefits:
- Salary of £39,500 to £52,000, plus bonus scheme
- Private medical insurance and pension contribution
- Hybrid working, with time split between the Oxford office and home
- Generous annual leave and flexible working arrangements
- Genuine progression within an established, growing company
Why pursue a career in PR & Communications?
PR & Communications has grown well beyond press releases and media lists. Internal communications now sits at the centre of how organisations retain staff, manage change and protect their reputation from the inside out. Oxford's mix of established institutions and growing SMEs makes it a genuinely positive base for this kind of career, and this Internal Communications Manager role gives you the scope to build something rather than just maintain it.
