Perform specimen collection and laboratory testing as a Medical Laboratory Assistant with Island Health on rotating overnight shifts. This temporary part time assignment includes laboratory and clerical duties.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Chief Technologist, or designate, you will support the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics. Duties include collecting blood and other specimens, preparing samples, and completing related clerical work. The position also includes urinalysis using colour-coded dipsticks and ECG testing where required.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collect blood and other patient specimens
- Prepare samples for laboratory analysis
- Distribute and store specimens appropriately
- Perform urinalysis using colour-coded dipsticks
- Complete related laboratory clerical duties

Requirements:

- Grade 12 education
- Recognized Laboratory Assistant training program completion
- One year of recent related experience
- Valid British Columbia Class 5 Vehicle Licence
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
