Detailed Overview

Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Pharmacy Services or designate, assists with medication dispensing by measuring, non‑sterile compounding, packaging, and distributing medications. Maintains stock levels, and performs clerical duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

- Receives, sorts, counts, measures and fills both patient‑specific and non‑patient‑specific medication containers. Assists in the distribution of patient‑specific and non‑patient‑specific medications to patient care units as directed and maintains appropriate records.
- Compounds non‑sterile pharmaceutical products according to established protocols.
- Repackages medications into unit‑of‑use format. Maintains repackaging and compounding records.
- Maintains appropriate quantities of wardstock medications (manual or automated dispensing cabinet system). Performs a validation of the accuracy of wardstock medications selected by other pharmacy staff in accordance to established policies and procedures. Maintains records of medication selection accuracy and the results of quality assurance reviews.
- Maintains pharmacy department inventory and wardstock quantities for non‑controlled and controlled medications. Distributes and maintains relevant inventory,
