Apply regulatory expertise to Directive 056 facility applications with the Alberta Energy Regulator, working from any AER office location. Review complex files and issue approvals using delegated authority.

This full time permanent specialist role sits within the Regulatory Applications Branch. You will serve as a subject matter expert on routine, nonroutine, and spacing applications. The work requires expertise in Directives 056, 089, 090, Manual 12, OGCR, and OGCA. You will also collaborate with AER groups, licensees, government agencies, regulators, technical disciplines, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

- Review and evaluate routine and nonroutine facility applications
- Assess complex applications entering the SOCAR process
- Provide technical advice during hearings and dispute resolution




- Lead projects and support implementation into core business
- Coach, train, and mentor less experienced staff

Requirements:

- Technical diploma in science, engineering, or applicable curriculum
- Five or more years of related industry or regulatory experience
- Robust understanding of Alberta’s regulatory framework and legislation
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and self-leadership skills
- Ability to travel overnight approximately one or two days yearly
