Role Description The Experienced Baker is a full time, on-site position based at Avia Bakery in Ottawa, ON. The role involves preparing and baking a variety of products such as breads, pastries, cakes, and cookies according to established recipes and standards. Daily tasks include measuring and mixing ingredients, operating ovens and other bakery equipment, monitoring product quality, and maintaining consistent presentation. The baker will help plan production schedules, manage inventory of ingredients, and ensure timely completion of orders, including special and custom items. The role also requires maintaining a clean and safe workspace, adhering to food safety regulations, collaborating with the bakery team, and occasionally interacting with customers regarding product details or recommendations. Qualifications




• Demonstrated experience as a baker in a commercial or artisan bakery environment, with strong knowledge of baking techniques and processes.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately while also adjusting formulas and methods to improve product quality when needed.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and safe operation of bakery equipment.
• Strong time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple items in production at once.
• Attention to detail in weighing ingredients, shaping products, monitoring bake times, and finishing items for display or sale.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift bags of ingredients, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Collaborative mindset with clear, respectful communication skills to work effectively with other team members and supervisors.
• Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by bakery operations.
• Formal training or certification in baking, pastry arts, or culinary arts is an asset but not required.
• Interest in developing new products, improving existing recipes, and contributing ideas to enhance the bakery’s menu and customer experience.
