About The Role Our client, a First Nation located in the North within Western Canada is currently seeking a Director of Finance to join their team. Reporting directly to the CAO and working on behalf of the Nation and its community members, the Director of Finance is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial management, oversight of the financial administration and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The Director of Finance plays a critical role in supporting continued growth, providing financial insight and strategic advice in partnership with the CAO, and is hands on in their direct responsibilities of financial reporting, budgeting and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities Budgeting & Financial Planning Lead the development and integration of the annual budget




Consolidate department budgets, evaluate accuracy and alignment with strategic goals.
Create multi-year financial plan, capital plans, and risk management plans for presentation and CAO review
Financial Reporting Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and ad hoc financial reports
Develop financial highlights memos and analysis on financial performance and emerging risks.
Preparation of audit schedules and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Process funding requirements and ensure funding reporting is submitted on time
Oversee payroll and perks financial transactions and reporting in accordance with legislation
