Apply electrical technology and troubleshooting skills as an AltaLink Summer Student Protection and Control Technologist in Calgary. Work from the Janet Service Center.

This four-month student assignment starts May 2027 within AltaLink’s Field Operations South Team. You will support transmission-system operations and maintenance, focusing on telecommunications and Protection-Control equipment. The work includes inspections, trouble response, safe work planning, and coordination with internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:

- Troubleshoot Protection-Control and telecommunication devices
- Inspect and maintain transmission-system equipment
- Develop hazard assessments and safe work plans
- Respond to equipment troubles in the area




- Support other disciplines as required

Requirements:

- Full time student in a related two-year technology program
- Study Electrical, Wireless, Telecom, or Electronics Engineering Technology
- Understand workplace safety practices, procedures, and standards
- Use computers and spreadsheets competently
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license
