Embedded Hardware/Software Design Engineer Embedded Hardware/Software Design EngineerAbout Luxcom Luxcom Technologies develops advanced fibre-optic communication and networking products including media converters, Ethernet transport systems, protocol converters, and embedded network devices used in demanding infrastructure environments.Role Overview Luxcom Technologies is seeking a hardware/software engineer to support the design and development of embedded networking products used in a variety of communications environments, including fibre-optic communication systems.This position focuses on electronic circuit design with microcontrollers and FPGAs, firmware development, and PCB design for networking devices.This role requires someone comfortable working across embedded firmware, digital hardware, and networking technologies. The successful candidate will participate in all phases of development, including architecture, schematic capture, FPGA and microcontroller design, PCB layout, prototype bring-up, testing, and manufacturing support.Responsibilities Design electronic circuits for embedded networking systemsDevelop schematics and PCB layoutsIntegrate microcontrollers, FPGAs, Ethernet PHYs, and switching devicesDevelop firmware for embedded processors and microcontrollers using C and/or PythonDesign and integrate FPGA-based logic using VHDL, Verilog,



or vendor toolchainsInterface with Ethernet PHYs, switches, and networking chipsetsWork with communication interfaces such as SPI, I²C, UART, RGMII, and JTAGDevelop Mini PCI Express (m PCIe) communication cardsProduce schematics, BOMs, design documentation, and manufacturing filesSupport prototype builds and hardware debuggingPerform board bring-up and validationConduct lab testing using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and network analyzersRequired Qualifications Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or equivalent practical experienceMinimum 5 years of industry work experienceExperience with schematic capture and PCB designExperience working with FPGA platforms (Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Lattice, or similar) and microcontroller-based systemsProficiency in C and Micro Python programmingFamiliarity with networking interfaces and Ethernet hardwareStrong understanding of Ethernet and networking hardwarePreferred Experience Design of PCIe or Mini PCI Express (m PCIe) hardwareEmbedded LinuxOptical networking systemsSynchronous serial interfacesHDLC communicationsWe value practical experience and hands-on engineering ability.
