Some travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be necessary in accordance with job requirements.Job Description:Assist in planting and maintenance of shrubs and flower bedsPerform parks grass cutting and maintenance, including litter collection and waste container servicingMaintain washroom, park furniture, shelter facilities and all other buildings located on city park locationsCollect fees (including trailer sites, boat docking and launch locations, etc.) and issue receiptsPerform tree maintenance and plantingPerform maintenance of sportsfields (including user group preparation)Operate machinery and equipment related to grounds maintenance functionsAssist in playground equipment maintenance and inspectionsPatrol and monitor parks for vandalism and secure public facilities nightlyPerform winter snow and ice control functions as requiredAssist with recreation trail inspection and maintenance functionsPerform other related duties as assignedSkills/Education Required:Secondary School diploma with additional education related to facility maintenanceExperience in grounds maintenance with emphasis on horticulture, landscape construction, sportsfield and parks maintenanceDemonstrated knowledge of workplace Health and Safety and WHMISDemonstrated ability to operate hand tools, various motorized equipment, combined with a working knowledge of equipment preventative maintenanceDemonstrated professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use confidential information appropriately, treat sensitive situations with appropriate degree of tact and discretionEffective oral communication and robust interpersonal skills to deal with members of the public, council and all levels of staffAbility to demonstrate initiative consistently with commitment to quality improvement, sharing process improvement initiatives with managementDemonstrated time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracyAbility to work independently or as an effective member of a teamGood analytical and problem solving skills related to area of expertiseDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, and any other related softwarePossess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s LicenceUpon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record CheckApplicants must be prepared for skill testing.#J-18808-Ljbffr
