Apply urban planning research and GIS knowledge as a Planning Intern with the City of Niagara Falls for the 2027 winter season. This four-month term runs January through April 2027, supporting Current Development or Policy Planning teams.

The City of Niagara Falls Planning, Building & Development Department seeks an intern enrolled in Urban Planning, Planning, or Geography. You will assist with land use research, development approvals, policy analysis, and report writing. The work includes planning applications, consultation, presentations, graphics, and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research land use policies, applications, statistics, and special projects
• Review Community Improvement Plan applications
• Prepare guidelines, reports, by-laws, and draft submissions
• Draft compliance letters covering heritage,
  
  
  
  workplace, and zoning
• Support consultations, presentations, website improvements, and graphics

Requirements:

• Current university enrolment in Urban Planning, Planning, or Geography
• Proficiency with graphics, email, word processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheets
• Fundamental understanding of databases and GIS
• Knowledge of planning statutes, regulations, policies, and processes
• Class G Driver’s Licence

Develop practical planning experience through research, analysis, GIS, consultation, and reporting with Niagara Falls municipal planning teams.
