Calgary-based Dam Safety Engineering Student role focused on inspections, instrumentation monitoring, and technical support. Work full time in person at TransAlta’s downtown head office.

TransAlta seeks a third- or fourth-year Geological or Civil Engineering student for a 12-to-16-month term. You will support engineers, project managers, and technicians while developing experience in dam safety, geotechnical engineering, and sustainable energy. The position includes field work and moderate travel to hydro sites across Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support engineers, project managers, and dam safety technicians
- Inspect dam structures and monitor geotechnical instrumentation
- Support maintenance, surveillance, and public safety assessments




- Complete desk studies and field work
- Use Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, Global Mapper, and PowerPoint

Requirements:

- Third- or fourth-year accredited Canadian engineering student
- Study Geological or Civil Engineering
- Interest in geotechnical engineering, dams, and sustainable energy
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
- Ability to travel to challenging hydro site terrain
