Design low-noise optomechanical systems for SBQuantum’s quantum sensors, integrating optics and mechanics for demanding field applications. Work across research and product development.
As an Optomechanical Engineer, you will own the diamond quantum magnetometer’s optomechanical subsystem. You will transform optical concepts into rugged, manufacturable systems. Your work supports sensors operating aboard drones, aircraft, and spacecraft.
Key Responsibilities: Design and improve the magnetometer’s optomechanical architecture
Develop laser modules, photodetection optics, and fiber routing
Integrate optical, microwave, thermal, and magnetic subsystems
Lead DFM, DFA, FMEA, and root cause investigations
Build laboratory setups and engineering prototypes
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
Solid background in optics or optomechanics
Five-plus years designing precision optomechanical systems
Experience moving products from prototype through manufacturing
Experience with thermal and vibration-resistant mechanical design
Apply optomechanical design, optical integration, and manufacturing experience to advance SBQuantum’s diamond quantum magnetometer technology.
