Inspect bridges, culverts, and retaining walls for York Region in Newmarket, applying structural drawings and construction quality-control expertise. This permanent full time position starts immediately.

Reporting to the Program Manager, Capital Construction Support, the Construction Inspector verifies projects meet contracts, specifications, drawings, regulations, and ordinances. The work focuses on highway structure construction and rehabilitation, including rebar, concrete, and culvert installation. You will also monitor safety, materials, measurements, and finished workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

- Inspect workmanship and materials throughout each construction stage
- Interpret drawings and verify procedures, measurements, and locations
- Coordinate material testing and evaluate results for acceptance




- Monitor safety compliance and document deficiencies immediately
- Complete reports, checklists, action memos, and records

Requirements:

- Related construction education or approved equivalent combination
- Five years of relevant construction inspection experience
- Five years inspecting bridges, culverts, or retaining walls
- Experience interpreting structural engineering drawings and specifications
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence and survey equipment ability
