Shape reliable capacity plans with Python or Kotlin as a Senior Backend Engineer on Affirm’s remote Canada Capacity Modeling team. Forecast traffic and tune resources for peak demand.
This senior position owns quarterly goals while guiding engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems. You will build backend systems at scale using AWS, MySQL, or Kubernetes. The work connects statistical models with CPU, memory, connections, pod counts, HPA ranges, and infrastructure sizing. You will help ensure Affirm can handle major sales events safely.
Key Responsibilities: Own quarterly team goals and guide engineers through delivery
Collaborate with product, design, and analytics stakeholders
Identify and resolve project, process, technology, and business issues
Monitor metrics and support availability, operations,



and on-call efforts
Improve code review and design standards through writing and tech talks
Requirements: Four-plus years designing and launching backend systems at scale
Python or Kotlin experience with highly available distributed systems
AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes experience
Autoscaling, CPU, memory, and multithreading tuning experience
Equivalent practical experience or a related bachelor’s degree
Bring backend engineering, capacity modeling, and distributed systems expertise to help Affirm scale reliably across remote Canada.
