Support housing stability for chronically homeless individuals and families in York Region through landlord engagement and case management. Provide telephone and home visit support as required.
The Salvation Army seeks a Housing Specialist to help participants obtain and maintain appropriate accommodation. You will provide housing-based Critical Time Intervention case management, connect participants with pre-screened options, and coordinate referrals, income supports, and eviction prevention. The position also serves Durham Region participants.
Key Responsibilities: Research housing options and maintain acceptance criteria and procedures
Liaise with landlords about vacancies and create service agreements
Assist housing searches, applications, viewings, transportation, and furnishings
Provide CTI case management, advocacy, mediation,



and crisis intervention
Prepare HIFIS case notes and maintain participant confidentiality
Requirements: College diploma in Social Sciences required; Bachelor of Social Work preferred
One to three years supporting people experiencing chronic homelessness
Knowledge of mental health, addictions, and community resources
Understanding of anti-racism, anti-oppression, and equity
Valid unrestricted Class G Driver’s License and acceptable VSC
Apply housing advocacy, landlord mediation, and CTI case management skills to strengthen accommodation stability with The Salvation Army.
